A Mighty Heart   «recommended»

It seems like there are two people in this world: people who love Angelina Jolie and people who hate her. I belong in the former group. This movie was touching, emotional, and uplifting all at the same time.
Where: City Cinemas 1, 2, & 3, Manhattan
Date: June 26, 2007
Summary: The film is based on Mariane Pearl's account of the terrifying and unforgettable story of her husband, Wall Street Journal reporter Danny Pearl's life and death. (from imdb.com)
Quotes: "I just want to tell him I love him."

«ordinary»   Sicko

I really don't like Michael Moore. I'm a self-described liberal, but even I think he's a propagandist, not a documentarian. Aside from not showing all the sides of the health crisis in America (and there definitely is a crisis, I'm not disputing that), Moore does bring to the forefront the fact that we need to have a dialogue about fixing our health system.
Where: AMC Loews Lincoln Square 13, Manhattan
Date: June 24, 2007
Summary: A documentary comparing the highly profitable American health care industry to other nations, and HMO horror stories. (from imdb.com)
Quotes: "We got issue in America. Too many good docs are getting out of business. Too many OB/GYNs aren't able to practice their... their love with women all across the country." - President Bush
"You work three jobs? Uniquely American, isn't it, I mean that is fantastic." - President Bush

The Greatest Show on Earth   «ordinary»

You know what I liked about this movie? The baby elephants. You know what I was less enamored with? Basically everything else. Unless you really love old movies, this is not for you.
Where: at home via Netflix
Date: June 23, 2007
Summary: To ensure a full profitable season, circus manager Brad Braden engages The Great Sebastian, though this moves his girlfriend Holly from her hard-won center trapeze spot. Holly and Sebastian begin a dangerous one-upmanship duel in the ring, while he pursues her on the ground. Subplots involve the secret past of Buttons the Clown and the efforts of racketeers to move in on the game concessions. Let the show begin! (from imdb.com)

«ordinary»   Ocean's 13

Not as good as the first Ocean's movie, better than the second Ocean's movie. All in all, not that fantastic, unfortunately.
Where: City Cinemas 1, 2, & 3, Manhattan
Date: June 9, 2007
Summary: When Reuben Tishkoff is double-crossed in a real state business with a luxury hotel in Las Vegas by Willie Bank (Al Pacino), he has a heart attack. Danny Ocean and Rusty Ryan plots a heist with their friends to revenge Reuben breaking Bank's casino. (from imdb.com)
Quotes: "Next time, try to keep the weight off between jobs." / "Settle down. Have a few kids."
